R&B powerhouse singer, Karyn White is back after a lengthy hiatus from the music industry.

The singer had a slew of hits in the 80’s and early 90’s such as  , “Secret Rendezvous” (1989), “The Way You Love Me” (1988), and the US Hot 100 number one single “Romantic” (1991) and probably her biggest and most recognizable hit–the women’s anthem, “Superwoman” (1988).

The singer took an abrupt step back from the game and had not been singing or performing until she released an independent album in 2012, but had not toured. Many did not know about the project and were wondering where she was. Specifically during the Babyface tribute at the 2015 Soul Train Awards when the show reunited some of the 80’s and 90’s artists that the producer worked with.

Fans were shocked when Fantasia hit the stage to perform Karyn’s song, instead of Karyn, who was one of Babyface’s biggest artists.

Well a few months ago, Karyn returned to the stage after 25 years and is also set to headline a series of shows in South Africa this coming week. Get into a recent performance and interview from May where she dished on why she left the industry, her thoughts on not being called to do the Babyface tribute and more.

Stay tuned for her upcoming performances in South Africa in the coming days as we will post here.
