Outside is officially open, so that means some of our fave summer festivals are coming back!
It was announced on Tuesday that the 2022 Roots Picnic is back and even bigger than ever. The music and culture festival will return to the Mann Center in Fairmount Park after missing the last two years due to the pandemic.
This time around, the event has expanded to two full days with headliners and major performers such as Mary J. Blige, Summer Walker, Wizkid, Kamasi Washington, and Jazmine Sullivan.
This year’s Picnic will take place on the Mann campus on June 4 and 5. It will be the first to be staged as an in-person event since 2019.
Other acts on the bill include SWV, Keyshia Cole, Musiq Soulchild, Robert Glasper with Philly native Bilal, and DJ Jazzy Jeff backing legendary rapper Rakim. Kirk Franklin, Tye Tribbett, Tierra Whack, Muni Long, Freddie Gibbs, G Herbo, Chief Keef, and many more will also take to the stage.
