Despite some ongoing drama going down within the group that will play out on their new Bravo series with SWV set to air in the Spring, all four members of Xscape came together over the weekend to receive their ‘Lady of Soul’ honor at the 2022 Soul Train Awards.
As previously confirmed, the quartet received the highly coveted honor this past Sunday (Nov. 13) becoming only the second group to receive the honor following their sisters in song and co-stars, SWV who were the first to be honored in 2017.
Members, Kandi Burruss-Tucker, Tameka “Tiny” Harris, Tamika Scott, and LaTocha Scott were all in attendance at the ceremony to accept the honor presented by their label head and mentor, Jermaine Dupri.
Get into some of the behind-the-scenes action from the ceremony below.
As far as the reported drama, Kandi recently teased during a series of interviews that there was some internal drama going on with the sisters in the group LaTocha and Tamika. TMZ later reported more on what is going down:
Fans started freakin’ out after noticing a promo for an upcoming tour featured 3 ladies, not 4 … but we’re told it’s not a sign the group is splitting up.
A source close to the group tells TMZ … LaTocha is still part of Xscape, despite what fans are noticing online. She made the call herself to put some space between her and the group.
Xscape shot a new Bravo show, which is set to come out in March … and the issues began once they decided to do a small tour.
Sources say LaTocha was originally part of the tour … until her husband got into it with the promoter. She asked the rest of the group to not use the guy, but they said no way … choosing to keep moving forward, which is when she backed out.
LaTocha even asked her bandmates not to use the group name since she’d be MIA — like when they went by Xscape 3 after group member Kandi took a break … but no dice. We’re told there’s been no communication between LaTocha and her sister, Tamika … not to mention the rest of the group
Despite this drama, all the ladies put that aside for the awards to get their flowers and show a united front.
The 2022 Soul Train Awards, hosted by actor-comedian Deon Cole, will air on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on BET and BET Her.
