Mariah Carey is celebrating the 25th anniversary of her sixth studio album, ‘Butterfly‘, which was released on Sept. 16, 1997.
The singer announced this week that she would be releasing the 25th-anniversary edition of her “favorite and probably most personal album” with eight new bonus tracks, 4K versions of music videos for “The Roof” and lead single “Honey,” as well as a documentary about the making of the “Honey” music video.
The release will also include videos from the ’90s-era performances for the album, as well as vinyl and cassette-tape versions of the album, new merchandise, and more surprises yet to be announced.
The album which became one of her most successful to date debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 on Oct. 4, 1997, and dominated the charts for 55 consecutive weeks.
The album will also feature a re-imagined version of ‘The Roof’ which will now feature Brandy. The two icons came together back in April for Mariah’s MasterClass and went into the studio to re-record the song. Fans immediately demanded the track be available for purchase and streaming, and now their wish has been granted with the anniversary release.
