Fans of HBO‘s wildly popular series ‘Insecure‘ were left heartbroken when it was announced months ago that the shows upcoming fourth season was being pushed back until 2020–despite it already being previously renewed last year.
The news came back in April of this year that season 4 would be pushed back from the shows usual July premiere/return until 2020–due to creator and star Issa Rae being super busy schedule.
At that time Rae was prepping and promoting her new film ‘Little’ as well as preparing for her then-upcoming series ‘A Black Lady Sketch Show’ which recently just premiered on HBO. She later updated fans in July that pre-production for ‘Insecure’ season 4 had officially started.
“We’re writing [Season 4] now,” Rae told reporters Wednesday at the Television Critics Assoc. summer press tour, where she was promoting her new HBO skit-com A Black Lady Sketch Show., Rae also revealed that Season 4 will start shooting in September and consist of 10 episodes, making it the show’s biggest season yet (the first three seasons consisted of eight episodes apiece.
Well as promised, the series has officially begun filming as of Thursday (Sep. 5). Rae took to social media to share a snap of her and her beautiful co-stars on the set with the caption:
“yOu BeTtEr MaKe It A hOuR”
? Day One. Season Four.

Still no word on season 4’s premiere date in 2020, but we’ll surely be on the lookout.
