“Straight Outta Compton” dominated the box office numbers with its opening this past weekend and made box office history, but NWA isn’t the only Hip Hop story that is set to be told. As we previously told you Master P was working on an upcoming biopic on his rise to fame and his label No Limit Records, now we have a teaser trailer for the documentary film. Via Singersroom:

Master P is directing a documentary titled Ice Cream Man: King of the South, a bio about the rise of No Limit Records. Born Percy Miller, the New Orleans rapper and businessman put the Louisiana city on the hip-hop map in the 90s, changing the way artists negotiated record deals (securing 100% ownership of his label’s Master Recordings, and 85% of sales).

Growing up in the poverty-laden Third Ward of the Big Easy, he rose to become a platinum-selling rapper after his departure from the504 Boyz, notably with his 1997 hit “Make ‘Em Say Ugh.”

There’s no official release date yet, but the film is slated to hit theaters in the Spring of 2016.

According to AllHipHop.com, No Limit Film executives “are looking for talented people to star in the film.” The report stated that the No Limit Records founder will travel to various cities across the country in the hopes of finding aspiring actors to star in the film.
