Just as it looked as though “The View” was already DOA for its upcoming 19th season, ABC has just announced that they have convinced Joy Behar to return to the struggling daytime talk show. Via Deadline:

In the announcement, ABC News called Behar “one of the most-beloved personalities in the talk show’s history having co-hosted for seasons 1-16,” adding, “While equally at ease performing standup comedy or interviewing politicians and celebrities, Behar brings honesty, humor, irreverence, with an authentic and intelligent point of view on every topic.”

“Just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in,” said Behar. “And I’m looking forward to sticking my two cents into the hot topics, especially now that Hillary and the Donald are in the spotlight.”

ABC News also made official Sherri Shepherd’s returning to The View as a lead contributor for the upcoming 19th season. Though ABC did not announce details, she’s expected to appear in about 50 episodes across the season.

Shepherd is leading a group of contributors that includes Stacey London, Top Chefhost Padma Lakshmi, Molly Sims, GOP strategist (and CNN contributor, and frequent guest on ABC News’ Sunday Beltway Show This Week) Ana Navarro, announced in this morning’s email, finalizing the stable of contributors to the daytime talker that’s been flopping about creatively and ratings-wise the past couple seasons.

In addition to Behar, ABC News confirmed Candace Cameron Bure and Paula Faris are joining the panel of regular co-hosts on the show. That’s in addition to Whoopi Golderg, Raven-Symone and Michelle Collins.

What are your thoughts of Joy returning to “The View” full time? Do you think this will help save the struggling show?
