Allison Seymour Teases New Channel 9 WUSA Anchor Role Following Fox 5 DC Sudden Departure, Set To Join Annie Yu & Tony Perkins on Nov 9 [Details]

Posted November 2, 2020

After 21 years of being an anchor at D.C.’s Fox 5 owned WTTG for their morning news block, and specifically ‘Good Day DC,’ fan fave Allison Seymour departed the network in a sudden and shocking announcement that no one expected back in August.

Fans have been speculating that there was some behind-the-scenes drama that prompted Allison’s departure, which became more plausible when just weeks later fellow longtime anchor Shawn Yancy also suddenly left the network as well with no real explanation.

The two longtime friends have been pretty silent on the real reason for their respective departures, but have taken to social media to share snaps of them spending time together in recent weeks as they’ve started new endeavors.

Both ladies also joined their good friend and former Fox 5/WTTG co-anchor Tony Perkins on his daily radio show with media legend Donnie Simpson on Majic 102.3.

Since her departure, there has been speculation that D.C.’s Channel 9 WUSA-TV offered Allison a spot to co-anchor their morning show and she has officially accepted.

The reports suggested that she would start on the show on November 9, but was never officially confirmed by her or the network. Now, she has seemingly teased a major announcement that would seemingly align with the reports.

Allison took to Instagram on Monday night (Nov. 2) to tease a countdown for something to happen in 7 days (Nov. 9):

7 Days And Counting …YES I have BIG news to share with you and I can’t wait for you to hear it from me OFFICIALLY❤️❤️ Thank you for your love and support #Always #StayTuned

If true, Allison would join Tony Perkins and Annie Yu (who also departed Fox 5 DC/WTTG) to make the move to Channel 9 WUSA-TV.

Annie Yu has been a co-anchor for the ‘Get Up DC‘ morning show for some time, while Tony just joined this past year.

Are you here for having Allison back on your TV screens? Stay tuned!
