Great news for fans of the new CBS daytime soap series “Beyond The Gates”! The freshman series was just renewed for a second season on Monday, May 12.
As we previously reported, the series made history as CBS’s first new soap in years and the first daytime soap opera to feature a predominantly Black cast in over 35 years.
Set in a leafy suburb of Maryland just outside Washington, DC, the series takes place in one of the DMV’s most affluent African American counties, focusing on a posh gated community and the Dupree family.
Since its debut in February, the series has been a hit and continues to be a trending topic on social media.
According to Deadline, the series, created by Michele Val Jean, has seen a +67% increase in multiplatform viewership compared to last year’s time period. It even surpasses ABC’s “General Hospital” by 7% among women aged 25-54 in broadcast ratings, according to Nielsen.
CBS announced the renewal of the season on Monday, and clips of the cast and crew celebrating this exciting news were shared on the show’s official Instagram page.
The series airs weekdays (2-3 PM, ET; 1-2 PM, PT) on CBS and can be streamed on the Paramount+ app.
