It’s hard to believe that it’s been 25 years since Craig David skyrocketed to the top of the charts and became a fave of ours with his debut album ‘Born To Do It.’
The British-bred singer is celebrating the anniversary of the project, which dropped 25 years ago today (Aug. 14, 2000), which now also coincides with the release of his latest album ‘Commitment‘, which arrived last week as we previously told you.
To celebrate the anniversary day, Craig took to his social media to pay tribute to the album that kickstarted his career and thanked his fans for their support throughout his over two-decade career. He shared:
25 years ago, my world changed 🌍 ‘Born to Do It’ was released 🎧🎶 and the life I’d only imagined as a kid became reality. This album grew from moments with my mum, from browsing record shops in London to singing for her in our flat 💫 She championed my dreams and believed in me long before I ever did ❤️ It also owes so much to my dad’s inspiration 🎸 and to countless hours spent alone with my Walkman ✨I grew up on a council estate, writing songs that carried my dreams, never imagining they would one day take flight 🕊️ Meeting Mark Hill was instrumental in shaping this record 💿 I’ll always treasure our time in the studio and the magic we created💫I’m grateful for the journey this album has taken me on & for the love you still share after all these years😌 It’s humbling & beautiful to know it still resonates so deeply🙏🏽25 years of ‘Born To Do It’ the same week as I’ve just released my new album ‘Commitment’ 😮💨💿 What a time to be alive 🎶Thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️Love,CD xx
