So Here For It: Donald Glover Lands Role of Simba In ‘Lion King’ Live Action Remake, James Earl Jones Reprises Role of Mufasa

Donald Glover is having the most successful year ever and things are just getting started.

Following the uber success of his FX breakout smash series ‘Atlanta,’ which he just won a Golden Globe for Best TV Comedy Actor for, and landing the role of Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Han Solo Star Wars standalone film, now Donald has scored a huge new role.

Donald Glover will take on the role of adult Simba and James Earl Jones will play Simba’s proud father Mufasa in Disney’s live-action The Lion King.

Director Jon Favreau announced the casting of the two stars on Friday evening. Jones reprises the role of Mufasa, which he voiced in the 1994 animated Lion King (Matthew Broderick voiced Simba in that box office hit which has made $968 million worldwide).
