Wednesday’s epic two hour season finale of ‘Empire’ brought cat fights, murder, new revelations, a major arrest and male on male sex and now the final numbers have arrived for the series that everyone and their mother’s have been glued to for the past several weeks.
Following a week full of promo which saw the cast trek to multiple talk shows, radio shows, do autograph signings and album release parties for the ‘Empire’ soundtrack which took the no.1 spot on Billboard, the series has claimed the no.1 spot once again in the ratings.
The finale brought in it’s highest ratings of their record breaking season according to TVByTheNumbers
In its usual 9 PM slot, Empire pulled in 17.5 million viewers. The first hour of the show garnered 15.57 million viewers. The last half-hour of last night’s season finale alone drew 17.7 million same-day viewers.
As we reported before, most freshman series debut strong in ratings but around the second or third week but Empire is the only show in history to continue to grow tremendously with each week. Check out the week to week ratings break down below.
