Imagine the eccentric funky style of Kelis paired with the sweet smooth vocals of Aaliyah, this would be Rochelle Jordan aka ROJO. Although this a great mash up, ROJO definitely is carving out her own individuality as an artist. The songbird who hails from Toronto has landed on our ‘Get Familiar’ list for good reason.
The first time I heard Rochelle, was on her 2011 mixtape ‘ROJO’ and it instantly caught my ear because the sound was very similar to that of Kelis’ first album which I to this day LOVE and also had a whole Neptunes sound. She could easily have been an addition to Pharrell’s roster. Although she currently is an independent artist, she has continued to release new music including her latest project the ‘Pressure’ mixtape.
