Kendrick Lamar and SZA officially took home Record of the Year at the Grammy Awards for their collaboration “Luther” — and were presented the honor by the legend herself, Cher.
This win also capped off an already historic night for Kendrick, who walked into the ceremony stacking wins and breaking records as we previously reported.
By the end of tonight, after multiple victories, including Record of the Year, he now stands at 26 total GRAMMYs, officially extending his record as the most-awarded rapper in GRAMMY history. He also becomes the first rapper in history to win in this category twice in a row.
SZA also had a major moment. She entered the ceremony with 4 GRAMMY wins, and with tonight’s victories — including Record of the Year — she now holds 6 GRAMMYs.
They took to the stage to accept the honor and paid homage to Luther Vandross and his estate for clearing the sample of the record.
