Iggy Azalea upset many of her fans last week when it was announced that her ‘The Great Escape Tour’ which was set to kick off this Spring, would now be delayed until the fall of 2015. The news came with rumors of trouble within her team, and ultimately the unfortunate delay resulted in Azalea’s two opening acts Tinashe and Nick Jonas jumping off the tour altogether.
Well now the Aussie rapper has dropped a bit of news that just might cheer up her fans. Iggy reportedly is in the studio working on her sophomore album which she plans to tentatively drop before the end of the year. Not only that, the song that she revealed months ago she did with Britney Spears will more than likely be the sets first single.
According to Billboard the rapper shared that news in an interview with the Associated Press, noting that when she does release her sophomore effort, the Britney collaboration, “Pretty Girls,” will likely be its first single.
“I love Britney. She’s super sweet and I just want to hang out with her all the time,” she said. “I saw her at Toys “R” Us randomly; she lives right down the street from me. …Since I’ve met her now we keep bumping into each other in the street.”
She went on to say regarding the collaboration “I don’t know if I needed re-inspiring, but it’s just made me extra excited to want to put out new music.”
It looks like the delay has worked in her favor as she says she now will be able to accommodate recording time until the tour resumes
“I didn’t anticipate having any time to completely finish it, but now that I have kind of the time,” she said. “I’d love to have an album at the end of 2015.”
We are definitely interested in hearing the single, it’s always entertaining to see Britney tap into her “hip hop side”.
