Janet Jackson & Cardi B Headlining 2018 Global Citizen Festival in NYC

Posted August 7, 2018

It’s a busy time for Janet Jackson following a sold out first leg of her ‘State of The World Tour’ which just recently kicked off it’s second leg with added dates.

The Queen of Pop also headlined Essence Festival back in July, Panorama Festival just in the past two weeks, and now she is headed to another big stage alongside new mother, Cardi B.

According to Billboard, the pair will headline the upcoming Global Citizens Festival along with a few other notable acts, taking place in New York City in September.

The festival, which is an annual event organized by Global Citizen, is dedicated to promoting advocacy. Anyone can win tickets to the event by downloading the Global Citizen app, which allows one to earn points in exchange for acts of advocacy. Whether it’s sending a tweet that spreads awareness about one of the organization’s causes — which range from ending global poverty to education equality — or making a phone call to people in positions of power asking for a change, each of the actions is about using one’s voice to make a change rather than their wallet.

This year’s fest will be hosted by the husband and wife duo Deborra-lee Furness and Hugh Jackman. There will also be performances and/or appearances by Cardi BJanelle Monáe and John Legend.

The Global Citizen Festival will be held on the Great Lawn in New York City’s Central Park on Sept. 29.
