The first wave of performers for the ESSENCE Festival of Culture was announced today, revealing a cross-generational lineup of powerhouse women set to headline this year’s evening concert series.
The festival returns to New Orleans during Fourth of July weekend, July 3–5, 2026, continuing its tradition as one of the largest celebrations of Black music, culture, and community.
Leading the first round of announcements are Cardi B, Patti LaBelle, Kehlani, Latto, and R&B icons Brandy and Monica, who will share the stage during the evening concert lineup.
The announcement brings together artists representing multiple generations of music. Brandy and Monica arrive at the festival fresh off their successful The Boy Is Mine Tour, which reunited the two stars on stage and celebrated their decades-long impact on R&B.
Meanwhile, Patti LaBelle continues her legendary run following the widely celebrated The Queens Tour, where she shared the stage with fellow icons Chaka Khan, Gladys Knight, and Stephanie Mills.
Together with Cardi B, Kehlani, and Latto — who represent the current generation of chart-topping artists — the lineup reflects ESSENCE Festival’s ongoing mission to celebrate both legacy and the future of Black music.
Held annually since 1995, the ESSENCE Festival of Culture combines nightly concerts with daytime programming across New Orleans, including panels, empowerment sessions, business forums, and community events.
Organizers also confirmed that more artists, special guests, and programming announcements are still to come as the festival approaches.
