The highly anticipated and controversial Lifetime movie ‘Aaliyah: Princess of R&B’ has gone through several changes since it was announced weeks ago that the movie was going to be made. After much backlash from fans over the lead actress Zendaya Coleman, trouble with securing rights to music and having the blessing of the family, Coleman dropped out of the film and made the announcement in late June during the weekend of the BET Awards.
Later it was rumored that Atlanta based up and coming singer Erika Perry was alleged to have been next in line for the role as we told you HERE, after production had been stalled due to the casting snafu.
Well now in a shocking move that further raises eyebrows surrounding the project, daytime diva Wendy Williams took to her Facebook on Friday (July 18) to announce that she has signed on to be an Executive Producer of the project, alongside Debra Martin Chase. Not only that, there has been yet ANOTHER young lady announced to play the role of the sultry R&B singer.
No word on the extent of Wendy’s EP role or any other details, but along with the news came the first image of Alexandra who will be playing Aaliyah.
