Rihanna is just hours away from the premiere of her new video, but she and her navy are more excited for what is set to come later this month! The American Music Awards will air live from the Nokia Theatre on Nov. 24 at 8 p.m and bad gal Riri is set to perform, is nominated for four awards, but the highlight of the night will be her receiving the biggest honor of that the award show has bestowed upon an artist. The AMA’s will present her with the very first ever ICON award. According to show producer Larry Klein:

“The first-ever Icon Award was created to honor an artist whose body of work has made a profound influence over pop music on a global level,”  “Rihanna’s iconic and innovative sound has enabled her to become one of the most influential and bestselling artists of all time.”

Those doubting the validity of her deserving this award should remember that the 25 year old has sold 50 million albums, 180 million singles worldwide, making her the bestselling digital artist of all time, and has racked up over 4 billion views on Youtube. All this within only 7 years, in which she has released 7 albums.

The AMA lineup will also feature appearances and performances by Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Justin Timberlake, TLC, One Direction and many more

Do you think Rihanna deserves the ICON award?
