
The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul, Mary J. Blige, has announced her first concert film, and it will be dropping just befoer the holiday season kicks off.
‘Mary J. Blige: For My Fans, Live From Madison Square Garden,’ will play exclusively in theaters globally on Nov. 5 and Nov. 8, and on Wednesday (Oct. 8) MJB took to her social media accounts to announce the news.
According to the logline, “The film features a deeply personal series of performances dedicated to the supporters who have been with her since the beginning. It showcases the essence of what this tour was – Blige performing a career-spanning setlist, paired with intimate storytelling and surprise guest appearances.”
The concert film which will feature exclusive behind-the-scenes footage was documented during MJB’s first-ever headlining show at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The show was part of her ‘For My Fans Tour’ in April.
“Playing Madison Square Garden was huge for me,” said Blige. “This is my home. Being able to share this moment globally with my fans, who can experience this together in a movie theater, is more special than I can put into words. This tour was always for my fans and being able to make this into a movie for them means the world.”
Tickets are on sale at maryjbligefilm.com. The film was directed by Kevin Garcia, with Blige serving as executive producer alongside LaTonya Blige-DaCosta, Kyle Heller, and Sarah Minders.
