It’s been just a week since the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin passed, and the tributes continue to pour in from all over including her dear friends and industry peers.
On Thursday night (Aug 23) Patti LaBelle held a sold out concert at the Dell Music Center in Philadelphia where she took a moment during her set to pay homage to Aretha.
It’s no secret that the two had a love/hate relationship over the years, but it seems as though toward the end of Ms. Franklin’s life, the two had made amends and come to terms with one another.
Patti revealed some interesting details during her set regarding Aretha and her wishes for Patti to sing at her funeral as conveyed to her by Franklin’s family directly this past week. Get into the emotional revelation and tribute below at around the 21:10 mark below.
As of now, Ms. LaBelle is not confirmed to perform during the upcoming memorial service for Ms. Franklin.
However, Stevie Wonder, Faith Hill, Shirley Caesar, Chaka Khan, Jennifer Hudson, Jennifer Holiday, Fantasia, Yolanda Adams, Marvin Sapp, Vanessa Bell Armstrong and The Clark Sisters are a few of those named to perform at the Queen of Soul’s funeral, which will be held in Detroit on Aug. 31.
