The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has officially announced its Class of 2026, recognizing a wide range of artists whose impact spans decades and genres.
After months of voting, this year’s performer inductees include Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Iron Maiden, Joy Division / New Order, Oasis, Sade, the late Luther Vandross, and Wu-Tang Clan.
Additional honorees across categories include Celia Cruz, Fela Kuti, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, Gram Parsons, Linda Creed, Arif Mardin, Jimmy Miller, Rick Rubin, and Ed Sullivan, highlighting the Hall’s continued effort to honor contributors across the full scope of music history.
The Rock Hall’s induction process begins with nominations selected by an internal committee. From there, ballots are distributed to an international voting body of more than 1,200 artists, historians, and music industry professionals.
Inductees are selected based on criteria including artistic impact, influence on other artists, and overall contribution to music culture.
Fans also play a role through the official fan vote, which allows the public to support their favorite nominees. However, the fan vote does not directly determine the inductees. Instead, the top fan vote recipients are combined into a single ballot that is counted alongside the official voting body.
New Edition Leads Fan Vote But Falls Short of Induction
New Edition fans are not happy with the results after months of campaigning, following their first appearance on the ballot in 2026.
The group received overwhelming public support, finishing No. 1 in the fan vote with 1,022,683 votes, contributing to more than 9.4 million total votes cast overall.
Despite leading the fan vote and securing over one million votes from fans, the group was not included in this year’s induction class.
On Monday night, they issued a statement to their fans thanking them for their support.
Dear Family, Friends, Fans, and NE4LIFERS—
We see you. And we appreciate you.
Over a million votes? That’s love, and we felt every bit of it. Yeah, we didn’t get inducted this year, but don’t get it twisted… we’re just getting started. If you know the game, you know this ain’t always first-round picks. Ask Dave Matthews Band — they ran it back 6 years straight before they got their flowers. So we’ll be back. Stronger and better, because we know all of you will be behind us every step of the way. And Congratulations to every artist that got in this year! You deserve it as well. To everybody who rode with us — thank you. Keep that same energy. Keep that same fire in 2027 when it’s time to vote again.
We love you. Always.—Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky, Mike, Ralph, and Johnny / New Edition
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2026 Induction Ceremony is set to take place on November 14, 2026, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The ceremony will air at a later date on ABC, with streaming available on Disney+.
