Fans of Aaliyah were super ecstatic earlier this year when after years of begging and pleading they were finally gifted with her full music catalog on all digital streamers for the first time ever.
Her Uncle and former label head, Barry Hankerson announced a new deal via Empire distribution to relaunch his label Blackground (now Blackground 2.0) and bring not only Aaliyah’s catalog but the full catalog of all the roster’s previous acts including Tank, Timbaland, Toni Braxton, Jo Jo & more.
He also revealed that there were plans in place to drop an all-new Aaliyah album that would feature contributions by Drake, Chris Brown, Future, and more. Well, on Friday fans were surprised with the first taste of what’s to come from the upcoming posthumous LP (release date and title pending).
The track ‘Poison‘ arrived and features the assistance of singer The Weeknd on vocals. Get into it below.
