Two of my favorite musical forces Pharrell Williams and A Tribe Called Quest have teamed up for a super dope collaboration and naturally I am so here for it. On Tuesday (October 13) a 2015 remix of Tribe’s classic 1990 hit and hip hop gem’Bonita Applebum‘. Via Rolling Stone:
Williams has long cited Tribe as a major influence on his sound. Now, Rolling Stone is premiering the producer’s remix of the group’s 1990 classic “Bonita Applebum” from their debut album, People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm. The remix is the first of three previously unreleased remixes featured on A Tribe Called Quest’s upcoming reissue of that LP.
The remix will be available as a free download upon pre-order for the reissue, which is set for release on November 13th. In addition to Williams’ track, which Pharrell recorded this year specifically for the album, the reissue will include J. Cole’s remix of “Can I Kick It?” and a “Footprints” remix featuring Cee Lo Green.
