Brandy’s name is getting pulled into a decades-old story has folks talking heavy.
During a recent episode of It Is What It Is, Cam’ron and Mase sat down with Shyne, and what started as a casual conversation quickly turned into a throwback story that nobody saw coming… or maybe everybody forgot about.
The trio started reminiscing about the late ‘90s and somehow landed on Brandy, with Mase and Shyne both revealing they were dating her around the same time — and according to Shyne, he didn’t even know Mase was already involved.
Now if that sounds messy… it kinda was.
Shyne went on to reflect on the situation, even bringing up how things got tense enough to require a “family meeting” back then that was called by their label boss, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, who checked the two about dating her at the same time while being label mates. He also shared a moment where Brandy checked him during an argument, reminding him he hadn’t even sold a record yet — a reality check he admitted stuck with him.
Meanwhile, Mase seemed to lean into the storytelling with a little humor, framing things in his usual confident tone — and you already know Cam was right there keeping the conversation going.
But once that clip hit the internet… it was up.
Fans immediately started debating whether the story needed to be told at all, especially when it involves someone as private and respected as Brandy. And right on cue, Ray J stepped in to shut it ALL the way down.
Ray J took to social media and made it clear he wasn’t here for his sister’s name being thrown around for content or laughs, calling out Cam’ron, Mase, and Shyne and defending Brandy’s legacy and privacy.
And honestly… not too much on Brandy.
Because while the guys may have been telling an old story from their perspective, fans were quick to remind everyone that Brandy has always moved with a certain level of grace, and not everything needs to be podcast content in 2026.
Get into it all below.
