Perhaps now that rising star Lorde officially became a Grammy nominated and winning artist, she is feeling rather confident in her industry standing. Her song ‘Royals’ was a chart topper and has made her pretty much a household name in a short time. According to reports though, there are a few other household names the awkward performer does not really take a liking to. The singer has slammed rap ROYALS Drake and Nicki Minaj in a interview back in November according to E!News:
Lorde has publicly criticized Selena Gomez, but now she’s got a few choice words about Drake, Nicki Minaj and Lana Del Rey.
The 17-year-old said during a recent sit down with Interview magazine that she simply doesn’t connect with their music.
“Around the middle of last year I started listening to a lot of rap, like Nicki Minaj and Drake, as well as pop singers like Lana Del Rey. They all sing about such opulence, stuff that just didn’t relate to me—or anyone that I knew,” she said.
“I began thinking, ‘How are we listening to this? It’s completely irrelevant.'”
She recently slammed Gomez for the lyrical content in her popular track, “Come & Get It.”
“I’m a feminist and the theme of her song is, ‘’When you’re ready come and get it from me,'” Lorde explained. “I’m sick of women being portrayed this way.”
What are your thoughts, do you think Lorde was wrong for her critique of other artist? Is she too new to be picking fights?
