Roseanne Barr is having the worst day ever and it’s all worth it, following her disgusting racist rant on Twitter against Valerie Jarrett, a former adviser to Barack Obama, which then prompted a contrived apology following swift backlash.
Barr tweeted on Tuesday: “muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj,” in response to a Twitter thread about Valerie. The racist remark was instantly greeted with backlash from Barr’s industry peers, social media and fans alike.
I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste.

The tweet and it’s lackluster apology came on the heels of her rebooted show being renewed for a new season by ABC, that was before ABC got wind of today’s tweets and instantly announced that the show is now officially cancelled.
BREAKING: ABC Entertainment president says the network has decided to cancel the ‘Roseanne’ reboot.

“Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” ABC entertainment president Channing Dungey said in a statement to TheWrap on Tuesday.
Dungey’s boss Bob Iger applauded the decision: “There was only one thing to do here, and that was the right thing,” he tweeted.
Well now, it looks like more trouble is coming for Roseanne according to The Wrap. Viacom is pulling “Roseanne” reruns from its Paramount Network, TV Land and CMT channels, a person with knowledge of the decision told TheWrap on Tuesday.
Additionally, Laff, a digital network that programs reruns of sitcoms spanning the past few decades, has made the same call.
“While we believe viewers have always distinguished the personal behavior of the actress Roseanne Barr from the television character Roseanne Conner, we are disgusted by Barr’s comments this week,” a Laff spokesperson told us. “Therefore, we are removing the original ‘Roseanne’ series from the Laff schedule for the time being, effective immediately.”
Swift justice, we like it.
