SWV’s Previously Teased Biopic Is Now CONFIRMED For Lifetime [Details]

Posted April 27, 2022

R&B group SWV excited fans back in 2017 and 2019 when they teased that they were plotting a biopic centering around their iconic career and life stories. Coko then revealed just last year that she specifically wanted singer, Sevyn Streeter to play her if/when the film ever happened.

Things have been pretty quiet since then but now, the film has officially been picked up by Lifetime. The group has confirmed that the project is in the works and the news was also reported by The Jasmine Brand.

SWV became one of the most successful R&B groups of the 1990s with hits including: ‘Weak,’ Right Here,’ “I’m So into You,’ ‘Rain,’ and many many more! As fans know, the trio disbanded in 1998 to pursue solo careers but reunited for a series of concerts and performances in 2005.

They later appeared on their first-ever reality show ‘SWV: Reunited’ on WEtv which documented their reunion and recording of new music, and performances. They later also appeared on a BET reality series titled ‘Ladies Night’ in 2019 alongside Salt-N-Pepa.

Since reuniting the ladies have released two albums: 2012’s ‘I Missed Us’ and their last project, ‘Still’ which dropped in 2016. The ladies continue to tour and perform at various festivals and shows and were most recently in the DMV for the ‘Femme It Forward Tour’ with Faith Evans and Mya as we reported here.

No word on when fans can expect the film, but stay tuned!
