This week Nicki Minaj released the highly anticipated visual for her new single ‘Anaconda’ and the hyper sexual clip has already racked up over 10 million views in less than 24 hours thanks to the endless supply of skin which has also received quite a bit of criticism. The original song itself had its own share on controversy as it was banned from video networks including MTV for its raunchy imagery and sexual objectification of women. For all the flack it received from viewers and listeners, it also had mutual success as it was the second best-selling song in the US in 1992, behind Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You”, with sales of 2,392,000 physical copies that year.In 2008, it was ranked number 17 on VH1‘s 100 Greatest Songs of Hip Hop according to Wikipedia.
