Tina Knowles launched her much-anticipated memoir book tour, “Matriarch,” on Wednesday, April 30, in the DMV area, with the event moderated by our Forever First Lady, Michelle Obama.
Mama Tina took the stage at the Theater at MGM National Harbor to share rare family photos and recount stories from her youth. She spoke about the challenges she faced with her mother, her experiences with racism in the South, including police harassment, and much more.
She also discussed tracing her family roots, using her experiences with her mother to empower herself as a parent, detailed her divorce from Mathew Knowles, and talked about raising their superstar daughters while building a family dynasty.
The event featured a special performance by singer Ledisi and pre-recorded messages of love from Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, Solange, Oprah Winfrey, and more.
