In addition to K. Michelle being honored this upcoming Labor Day weekend, there are a ton of other events going down in Atlanta for Black Gay Pride weekend, and some of your fave celebs will be in the building(s).
It is officially the 20th Black Gay Pride celebration so you know that means they will be doing it way big down in the A! Via the official press release:
The country’s leading LGBTIQ annual Pride extravaganza is gearing up for it’s annual celebration. 2016 marks it’s 20th year celebration with a roaring line-up occurring during the Labor Day holiday weekend. This year promises to be a blowout with an exciting entertainment line-up that includes singer K. Michelle, rappers Trina, Remy Ma and Cardi B, super model Eva Pigford and reality-tv stars Trina Braxton,Towanda Braxton, Mimi Faust, Ariane Davis, Karli Redd and Dedra Allen. A portion of proceeds from the weekend’s festivities will benefit homeless LGBT youth and those infected/affected with HIV/AIDS.
This year’s convention offers a variety of cultural, educational, and entertainment activities designed for all participants. Daily activities will include film screenings, educational panels/forums, workshops, counseling sessions, day parties, comedy showcases, booze cruise and so much more. The host hotel, “The Georgian Terrace” in midtown serves as the epicenter for lodging, convention and general Atlanta information needs. Pride nightlife events will take place in many of Atlanta’s premiere venues. Atlanta Black Gay Pride organizers, in conjunction with the mayor’s office and the Atlanta Police Department (APD), have taken extra precautions to ensure that all convention participants have a safe and enjoyable weekend in the great Peach state.
The five-day celebration will kick off with a pride welcome reception at Atlanta’s Center for Civil and Human Rights (100 Ivan Allen Jr Blvd NW, Atlanta, Georgia 30313) on Thursday, September 1st. The welcome reception will be hosted by Bishop Oliver Clyde Allen, III (Senior Pastor, “The Vision Church”, Executive Director, The Vision Community Foundation) and The Gentleman’s Foundation Founders Gee and Juan Session-Smalls.
