Sunday evening all eyes were on the Billboard Music Awards live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Undeniably the highlight of the show was the highly anticipated Michael Jackson performance.
The beloved singer returned to the stage for one night only to perform his dance heavy single ‘Slave To The Rhythm’ from his current no.1 chart topping album ‘Xscape’. The hologram performance included a Egyptian themed full set, intricate choreography with 16 background dancers, a 5 piece band and of course the King of pop sitting atop his rightful throne.
According to Billboard:
The performance was the result of nearly half a year of planning, choreography and filming, not to mention the development of new technology. Producers of the Billboard Music Awards did not see even a portion of the film until eight days before the broadcast.
“We’ve been talking about it for the last five months and while we were talking about it they were still inventing the process,” says BBMA director and producer Larry Klein. “It was really strange talking about something that did not exist.”
