TV One’s groundbreaking series Unsung has expanded to a new series Unsung: Hollywood, and their latest episode focused on one of my favorite shows from the 90’s, New York Undercover.

The action/drama which aired on FOX for a total of four seasons from 1994-1998 starred Malik Yoba as Detective J.C. Williams and Michael DeLorenzo as Detective Eddie Torres. The show followed the two undercover detectives in New York City’s Fourth Precinct who were assigned to investigate various crimes and gang-related cases. The show become a hit for the network, but not without its share of drama and challenges.

In the episode of Unsung: Hollywood, we get to relive the show through the original cast including Lauren Velez, who all reunite to open up about how the origins of the series, the issues they faced with FOX supporting the show and trying to whitewash the show to appeal to white audiences, and so much more.
