
Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar just scored some major nods and will be going head-to-head in categories for the 2025 Emmys.
Beyoncé’s Netflix special, “Beyoncé Bowl,” is nominated for multiple awards, directly opposing Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show for Super Bowl LIX in 2025. Both artists are vying for Outstanding Choreography and Outstanding Variety Special (Live).
In addition, Beyoncé is nominated for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special, recognizing her personal contribution to the project’s creative vision. Jay-Z is also nominated for Outstanding Variety Special (Live) for his executive producer role in Kendrick’s Super Bowl halftime performance.

Kendrick has already scored an Emmy previously for his 2022 Super Bowl LVI halftime performance alongside Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, 50 Cent, and Snoop Dogg.
In addition to Outstanding Variety Special (Live) Kendrick also lands a nod in the Outstanding Music Direction category this year.
Kendrick has previously won an Emmy for his halftime show during Super Bowl LVI in 2022, where he performed alongside Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, 50 Cent, and Snoop Dogg. This year, he has also received a nomination for Outstanding Music Direction.
Kendrick’s 2025 halftime show has set viewership records, with over 133.5 million viewers, making it the most-watched halftime show in NFL history.
Other nominations include Doechii’s performance at the 2025 Grammy Awards, the 2025 Oscars tribute to Quincy Jones, and the “SNL50: The Anniversary Special.”
Additionally, Questlove has earned three nominations for:
– Outstanding Directing for a Documentary/Nonfiction Program for “Ladies & Gentlemen… 50 Years of SNL Music”
– Outstanding Music Direction for “SNL50: The Homecoming Concert”
– Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special for “Sly Lives!”
