Janet Jackson is celebrating four decades of Control in a major way.

The music icon has partnered with Airtab Music for Janet Jackson: Control 40 — The Airtab Music Movie, a new cinematic concert event celebrating the 40th anniversary of her landmark 1986 album.

The project will be filmed live on December 12, 2026, at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida, with acclaimed filmmaker Leslie Small set to direct. The production will combine a multi-camera concert presentation with exclusive behind-the-scenes footage documenting the making of the special.

While Control is at the center of the celebration, the concert won’t be limited to that album.

According to the announcement, Jackson will pull from her entire four-decade catalog, including music from Control, Rhythm Nation 1814, janet., The Velvet Rope and beyond. Fans can expect classics including “What Have You Done for Me Lately,” “Nasty,” “Control,” “Miss You Much,” “Escapade,” “Love Will Never Do (Without You),” “If,” “Again,” “That’s the Way Love Goes,” “Together Again” and “All for You.”

Released in February 1986, Control became the project that transformed Janet from a young entertainer with a famous last name into one of pop and R&B’s most influential forces.

The album, created largely alongside legendary producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, delivered seven singles and included career-defining records such as “What Have You Done for Me Lately,” “Nasty,” “When I Think of You,” “Control,” “Let’s Wait Awhile,” “The Pleasure Principle” and “Funny How Time Flies (When You’re Having Fun).” The project was nominated for Album of the Year at the 1987 Grammy Awards, while Jam & Lewis took home Producer of the Year honors.

The anniversary comes during another major year of recognition for Jackson. Earlier this year, her 1989 masterpiece Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation 1814 was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, with Jackson making a special appearance at the May ceremony in Beverly Hills.

Now, 40 years after Janet famously declared that it was all about “Control,” she is giving fans a new opportunity to celebrate the era that changed everything.

Janet Jackson: Control 40 — The Airtab Music Movie is currently being positioned for a global theatrical release, followed by worldwide streaming distribution. Additional release information has not yet been announced.

We’ll keep you posted as more details—including ticket information, theatrical dates and the eventual streaming home—are revealed.
