Mýa is fresh off the heels of releasing her fire new single last Friday, and on Monday she kicked off her promo tour in NYC, including a few key stops.
Sitting down with Sherri Shepherd, Mya talked all about her brand-new single “ASAP,” which just dropped and is already finding its groove with R&B fans. She explained that the song is really about honesty and clarity in relationships — getting to that point where you’re done dancing around feelings and just want the truth, straight up.
She also dished on her journey as an independent artist, and how she got guidance from Prince himself about what it means to stay independent. Mýa explained that Prince helped her understand that owning your art and steering your own ship isn’t just powerful, it’s necessary for longevity.
She also teased her upcoming tenth studio album which drops this Spring, tour plans, and the artist she would love to work or tour with: Janet Jackson.
