Another big shift is happening in daytime TV.
The daytime talk show Sherri, hosted by Sherri Shepherd, has officially been canceled after four seasons. While the news is disappointing for fans, sources make it clear this decision is more about the changing daytime TV landscape than anything lacking with the show itself.
Sherri first launched in 2022, stepping in after The Wendy Williams Show ended, and quickly found its own lane. From celebrity interviews and viral moments to heartfelt conversations and plenty of laughs, Sherri brought warmth, relatability, and real joy to daytime television. It wasn’t trying to be Wendy — it was very much Sherri, and that mattered.
What makes this news hit a little harder is that it comes during a larger reset in daytime TV overall. Long-running formats are being reevaluated, budgets are tightening, and networks are clearly shifting priorities. Still, this cancellation feels less like an ending and more like a pause.
Producers have already hinted that they’re open to exploring other platforms for Sherri, and honestly, that makes sense. Sherri Shepherd’s voice, personality, and connection with her audience aren’t tied to one time slot or format. Whether that’s streaming, digital, or something entirely new, it feels safe to say this won’t be the last we see of her holding court.
In a joint statement, Debmar-Mercury co-presidents Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus revealed:
“This decision is driven by the evolving daytime television landscape and does not reflect on the strength of the show, its production, or the incredibly talented Sherri Shepherd. We believe in this show and in Sherri and intend to explore alternatives for it on other platforms.”
The show will continue airing new episodes through the remainder of its current season, but it won’t be returning for another syndicated run. Over its four-season run, Sherri earned multiple Daytime Emmy nominations and NAACP Image Awards, proving it connected with audiences and the industry alike.
But that’s not the only big news in daytime. In the same week, The Kelly Clarkson Show also announced it’s wrapping up after seven seasons. Kelly’s show has been a staple in the daytime world — fun interviews, emotional moments, music segments, and so many heart-felt surprises — so hearing that both of these shows are ending will come as a massive blow to daytime TV.
While Sherri has yet to address the news, Kelly shared the following statement on her cancellation.
