
Production is officially underway on the highly anticipated A Different World sequel series at Netflix, with cameras now rolling and more casting updates unveiled as of today (Feb. 26). The revival brings viewers back to Hillman College, with several beloved original cast members confirmed to return.
Fans can expect to see Kadeem Hardison back as Dwayne Wayne, alongside Jasmine Guy as Whitley Gilbert-Wayne, Darryl M. Bell as Ron Johnson, and Cree Summer as Freddie Brooks.
Newly confirmed today, Jenifer Lewis will once again step into the role of Dorothy Dandridge Davenport, now returning to Hillman as a professor after previously serving as dean. Charnele Brown is also back as Kimberly Reese, continuing her character’s journey in this next chapter.
The 10-episode continuation will follow the youngest child of Dwayne and Whitley as she begins her freshman year at Hillman, setting the stage for a new generation while staying connected to the show’s legacy.
Behind the scenes, Debbie Allen returns to direct multiple episodes, including the series premiere. Original writers Reggie Rock Bythewood and Gina Prince-Bythewood are also back as executive producers, joined by Mandy Summers and Tom Werner.
An official release date has not yet been announced, but with production officially in motion, Hillman College is officially open once again.
