After a few years of having 98% Euro/Russian blonds with expressionless faces marching down the runways, the doors have once again opened the door to more diversity in fashion. For the longest time, supermodels Chanel Iman, Arlenis Sosa and Sessilee Lopez were the lone soldiers representing for the brown girls. With the meteoric rise of Joan Smalls, that made a clear path for other models for make their mark. Last season, Prada made global headlines when they cast 18yr old model Cindy Bruna in their fall 2013 campaign, the first time in twenty years a model of color was used.
