‘The Breakfast Club’ host and shock jock Charlamagne Tha GOD has never been one to shy away from his opinion on any matter and he certainly didn’t in a recent interview with VladTV.

During the interview, Charlamagne was asked his thoughts on Kid Rock’s controversial comments a few weeks ago regarding Beyoncé and her lack of hits in comparison to artists like Prince when he stated  she did not have a classic record like “Purple Rain” or “‘Sweet Home Alabama.”

He revealed that those thoughts are just Kid Rock’s opinion which he is entitled to, and just because Bey has a large obsessive fan base (which he proclaims to be a part of) that does not mean everyone has to take issue with Rock’s statements. He then went on however to defend Bey’s accomplishments and made a shocking comparison that has some people giving a little side eye.

I think she’s dope. I think she’s the greatest entertainer that our generation has seen. The previous generation had Michael Jackson, but for our generation I think it’s Beyonce. You can’t really compare anybody to anybody. Michael Jackson’s a god. He’s legendary. He’s on a totally different level. But Beyonce – if she’s not already – she absolutely will be on that same level. She will be looked upon in the same regard, if not more as Michael Jackson was. That’s the truth to the matter. People hate when I say that, but you’ll see in the future. It’s gonna happen.

Granted we totally agree with his statements in her defense as far as her accomplishments and impact, we disagree on the fact that Bey has or will surpass Michael Jackson. Perhaps in this current age of social media Bey has a bigger platform but we cannot ever forget the legacy that MJ has solidified. The same legacy that Bey herself praises as her main inspiration and blueprint for her career.

Bey has extremely dedicated fans but there is clearly no comparison to the icon that is Michael Jackson, the amount of records he has sold, the records he set and broke, the pandemonium he caused from fainting fans to inspiration he provided to countless artists.
