
This week Target and Amazon both announced that they would not carry Beyonce‘s new self titled album due to her initially releasing it exclusively to iTunes. Target — which is selling neither the physical or digital version in the album — said Beyoncé’s partnership with iTunes impacts demand and sales projections.
While there are many aspects that contribute to our approach and we have appreciated partnering with Beyoncé in the past, we are primarily focused on offering CDs that will be available in a physical format at the same time as all other formats. At this time, Target will not be carrying Beyonce’s new self-titled album ‘Beyonce.
After the spiteful boycott by the two companies Queen Bey decided to show them who is boss, by taking her business to the competitor. Beyonce’ made a surprise appearance on Friday night at a Walmart located in Tewksbury, Mass. During her visit Bey did a little lite shopping, before getting on the loud speaker and announcing that everyone in the store would be getting a $50.00 gift card.
The manager of that Walmart confirmed that in total 750 customers walked away with gift cards totaling $37, 500. Check out the footage below.
