Beyoncé said, “Happy Fourth,” and gave the BeyHive something brand new to obsess over.
On Saturday morning, Queen Bey released a new song titled “Morning Dew (Donk)”, giving fans an unexpected holiday treat and officially kicking off a 60-day countdown to the upcoming 20th anniversary celebration of her sophomore album, B’DAY.
The new track arrived on streaming platforms at 9 AM ET and serves as the first new offering from Beyoncé in two years. According to the announcement from Parkwood Entertainment, “Morning Dew (Donk)” will be included on the forthcoming 20th Anniversary Edition of B’DAY.
The song was written by Beyoncé, Pharrell Williams, The-Dream, and Darius Dixon, and produced by Beyoncé and Pharrell Williams. It also comes with a lyric video that repurposes older footage, directed by Beyoncé’s longtime collaborator Cliff Watts, who famously shot her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover around her 25th birthday.
For longtime fans, the “Donk” title may sound familiar. The track has lived in Beyoncé fan lore for years as an unreleased cut connected to her earlier eras, with fans online constantly bringing it back up and debating whether it would ever see an official release. Now, Beyoncé has finally brought it into the light with a new version tied directly to one of the most iconic chapters of her career.
Originally released in 2006, B’DAY gave fans some of Beyoncé’s most beloved and high-energy records, including “Déjà Vu,” “Ring the Alarm,” “Irreplaceable,” “Upgrade U,” “Get Me Bodied,” and “Green Light.” The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and helped further establish Beyoncé as one of the defining solo artists of her generation.
Now, nearly two decades later, she is revisiting that era with a celebration that already has fans asking what else she may have tucked away in the vault.
Is this simply a love letter to the B’DAY era, or is Beyoncé preparing to give the Hive a full anniversary rollout? Either way, “Morning Dew (Donk)” has already done what Beyoncé releases always do: stop the timeline, spark theories, and remind everyone that she moves on her own time.
Listen to “Morning Dew (Donk)” now on streaming platforms, and let us know: what deep-cut, unreleased, or vault Beyoncé track do you want her to free next?
