The crew is getting back together!
Tyler Perry is officially bringing back his beloved Why Did I Get Married? franchise with a brand-new sequel, Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Again?, coming to Netflix on September 9, 2026.
The new film will reunite several fan favorites from the original movies, including Tyler Perry, Jill Scott, Tasha Smith, Michael Jai White, Richard T. Jones, and Sharon Leal, while also adding Taraji P. Henson to the cast. Netflix also lists Lamman Rucker, Armani Greer, and Everett Osborne among the ensemble.
This time around, the story follows the group as they reunite for a wedding in Lake Como, Italy, centered around the daughter of Marcus and Angela, played by Michael Jai White and Tasha Smith. As the next generation prepares to walk down the aisle, the original crew is forced to reflect on love, marriage, the examples they’ve set, and that familiar question: why did they get married… again?
Perry returns as writer, director, producer, and star of the film, marking the third installment in the franchise after 2007’s Why Did I Get Married? and 2010’s Why Did I Get Married Too?
Fans have been asking for this reunion for years, and with the original cast back in the mix plus Taraji joining the chaos, Why Did I Get Married Again? is already shaping up to be one of Netflix’s big must-watch releases next year.
