Could there be a reboot of the 2001 Hip-Hopera ‘Carmen‘ on the way? If reality TV mastermind Carlos King has his way, then yes.
The producer who has been the magic behind many of our fave reality TV shows (The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Hollywood Divas, The Next 15, Love & Marriage Huntsville, etc.) has expressed his interest in remaking the musical romance drama that aired on MTV and stared a young Beyonce and Mekhi Phifer.
The original also starred Mos Def, Rah Digga, Wyclef Jean, Da Brat, Joy Bryant, Reagan Gomez-Preston, Jermaine Dupri, and Lil’ Bow Wow and was directed by Robert Townsend. It was based on the 1875 opera ‘Carmen’ but had a modern twist, set in Philadelphia and Los Angeles. The film featured an original Hip-Hop/R&B score in place of Bizet’s opera.
King took to Twitter on Thursday to throw out his idea and has even already picked out his leading lady and her male co-star.
Hear me out Beyonce! Let me produce the remake to this classic and have @ChloeBailey and @DaBabyDaBaby reprise the role of @Beyonce and @MekhiPhifer . Would y’all be here for this? pic.twitter.com/pH2cGe0Krr

Carlos suggested that Chloe Bailey take the lead role as Carmen, while DaBaby take over as her leading gentlemen.
Would you be here for it?
