Well, it’s official — The Love King has a new home on DMV radio!
Raheem DeVaughn is officially joining Majic 102.3 with his new show, The Garden of Love, marking his return to local radio just weeks after his departure from WHUR 96.3.
The move keeps the Grammy-nominated R&B singer, songwriter and longtime DMV favorite right where a lot of listeners want him — on the airwaves here at home.
Raheem spent nearly two years at WHUR, taking over as host of the legendary Original Quiet Storm in October 2024. He hosted the weekday evening show from 7:30 p.m. to midnight and brought his own signature “Love King” flavor to a program that has been part of Washington radio history for decades.
His time at WHUR also helped expand the Quiet Storm brand beyond the DMV. Raheem currently hosts The Quiet Storm’s Garden of Love on SiriusXM’s HUR Voices, where the show mixes smooth R&B with intimate, love-centered programming.
Now, he’s taking that Garden of Love concept to Majic 102.3.
The name itself is already deeply tied to Raheem’s brand. Longtime fans will remember “Garden of Love” as a song from his 2010 album The Love & War MasterPeace, and he has continued using the title over the years for his slow-jam and relationship-centered programming.
And this isn’t exactly unfamiliar territory for Raheem.
Over the years, he’s had a relationship with Majic 102.3 and previously filled in on-air for the station, so the move feels a little like a homecoming.
It also comes at a pretty big moment in Raheem’s career. Earlier this year, his 20th anniversary version of “You” climbed to No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart, giving him his first No. 1 on that chart since “Woman” in 2008.
Between the music, touring, radio and his continued presence in the DMV, Raheem has definitely been outside — and now he’s adding another major chapter to the resume.
The Garden of Love now gives Majic 102.3 its own version of the grown-and-sexy, late-night R&B experience Raheem has become known for.
And considering how much his voice, music and personality are tied to the DMV, this move feels like a natural fit.
