Tamar Braxton has never been one to shy away from speaking her mind, so it should come as no surprise that the feisty singer has expressed her thoughts on one of her most successful counterparts, Rihanna.
While her daytime talk show The Real is on summer break, the Braxton Family Values star paid a visit to the Angie Martinez Show on Power 105.1 to promote new single âIf I Donât Have Youâ and its forthcoming album due this fall.
During a conversation regarding this year’s BET Awards it turned to the topic of Sam Smith winning âBest Newcomerâ at the recent BET Awards which Tamar had some thoughts on as well as her thoughts on Rihanna also being nominated as an R&B artist.
âI had an issue with Rihanna being nominated at the Grammys for Best R&B Album. She doesnât sing R&B music. She is a Pop star. You know what Iâm saying? I had an issue with that a little bit.
I love her though.
[In response to âwhat makes something R&Bâ] Itâs called Rhythm and Blues. Ribs and Barbecue. Itâs not twerk music. Itâs soulful. Thatâs R&B music.
Every song of [Rihannaâs] that Iâve got my complete and utter life to has been (while) twerking. I love her and Iâm one of her biggest fans period, but thatâs not R&B music.
Beyonce, for me, is more R&B than what Rihanna music would be considered.â
She also opened up on how the reconciliation between she and K. Michelle went down for this years BET awards and her feud with Chris Brown. Her thoughts specifically on Riri at the 9:00 mark below.
