After months of cast changes, criticism, drama with the family and anticipation, the Lifetime original movie ‘Aaliyah: Princess of R&B’ finally will air this Saturday November 15 at 8/7C. We’ve seen a few trailers and teasers for the film, but now comes one that is sure to get fans of the late singer talking.

As many know, the families disapproval of the film and refusal to allow Aaliyah‘s music to be performed or vocals appear in the film resulted in the producers of the film having to work around the snafu. So actress Alexandra Shipp will be performing herself, and now comes a taste of what she will sound like as Aaliyah.

In the clip, which is one of the only vocal performances in the film Shipp performs “Got To Give It Up” a song by Marvin Gaye song in which Aaliyah covered on her sophomore album “One In A Million”. Peep Aaliyah’s version below, and the movie version with Shipp on vocals as Aaliyah.

Like, share, and let us know what you think about her performance.
