Wendy Williams and her “say it like you mean it” attitude got her in some boiling hot water this past week after she made some seemingly anti HBCU comments. As previously reported, during a segment of “Hot Topics” early last week, Wendy addressed the BET Awards speech from Jesse Williams and the current state of racial tension. Then after being dragged all over social media from viewers, and even getting checked by Roland Martin, Wendy decided to issue a “clarification” of her comments on Thursday’s show HERE.
Well it looks like her “clarification” (which many say was just as bad as the initial comments) was not good enough to satisfy one of her biggest sponsors. According to reports from B. Scott, Chevrolet has just pulled the plug on their sponsorship deal with Wendy.
In April of this year, The Wendy Williams show struck an all-inclusive deal with Chevrolet, Carat Media and ACE Media Corp. to include on-air promotion of the 2016 Chevy Malibu. The activation included custom digital content, social media marketing, and was set to continue for the rest of the year.
Not anymore.
Our sources say that Wendy has been “sobbing all week” over the loss, although she refuses to apologize.
We’re not sure who exactly pulled the plug, but it should be noted that Andrea Holmes Thompkins, President and CEO of ACE Media Corp (the company responsible for facilitating the Chevy partnership), graduated from Howard University.
