Today’s TBT is an homage to one of the most profound neo-soul artist to come from the late 90’s, Erykah Badu. Following her debut single ‘On & On’ and its mega hit successor ‘Next Lifetime’ Badu dropped the third single ‘Other Side of The Game’ which featured her then boyfriend Andre 3000 as her love interest in the visual.
Her 1997 debut album ‘Baduizm‘ would go on to reach #2 on Billboard 200 and take the top spot on Billboard Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums charts, off the strength of her eclectic and refreshing sound during an era where Hip Hop was very prominent but lacked substance for urban audiences.
Although Badu has a great catalog to choose from, this one is one that still feels as new and refreshing now as it did back then. Get into it now, ‘Other Side of The Game’
