It’s been 20 years since the epic and groundbreaking film ‘Independence Day’ and as we previously reported its highly anticipated sequel has been in the works but on Sunday (Dec 13) the first official trailer hit the net courtesy of 20th Century Fox.
‘Independence Day: Resurgence‘ will arrive in June 2016 and it features most of the original cast including Jeff Goldblum, Vivica A. Fox and Bill Pullman as well as Liam Hemsworth. However, the film’s leading man Will Smith is not returning.
As we previously told you Will did not return for the follow up and he has since been replaced by ‘Survivor’s Remorse’ star Jessie Usher, who will play Will and Vivica’s son Dylan. According to reports, Will’s character, Steve Hiller, has been killed off and more detail on his death will be revealed in the film.
Even without its star, the film looks like it will be EPIC, EPIC and EPIC all the way around. Can the sequel break and set box office records like its predecessor? Check out the trailer below.
